Just a thought that crossed my mind. If am unable to register a domain, for example: getmoneydeadfast.com

Can I register deadfast.com and create a sub-domain of getmoney.deadfast.com and will it have the same keyword potential as getmoneydeadfast.com?

Go to google and do a search for the word "news" - without the quotes - and what do you see?

    The first three results are:

    cnn.com
    msnbc.msn.com
    foxnews.com

    The next results are

    news.google.com
    news.yahoo.com
    news.cnet.com
    abcnews.go.com

It appears to me that subdomains can rank pretty good for targeted keywords.

I applaud ~kev~ for turning to the expert source. However, your site is not likely to have the number of domain links that bring these subdomains to the forefront. C-NET, for example, has over 3.5 million domain links.

Matt Cutts of Google search recommends that instead of a subdomain you set up a folder within the primary domain.

In your case, that would mean a primary domain and extension of "getmoney.com/deadfast/PAGENAME.html" for example or "deadfast.com/getmoney/PAGENAME.html."

I have not tested these various alternatives, but Matt Cutts is sort of the Google search god--for what it's worth.

Another alternative is to try to get the domain, getmoney-deadfast.com. This sort of thing I have tested. A single hyphen does little to diminish a domain name, although it will reduce its value a bit if you hope to flip the site (build and then sell it).

      gsport11 gets the gold star.

Subdomains should be used for content that truly needs a subdomain.
Such as mail.yahoo.com so it can be distinguished as the email site.
Subdomains are for different, separate programs. Not really for
content. We are not all go.com, the most notorious user of subdomains.

I suppose if you did a 301 redirect from your regular domain to the
      subdomain....but I digress.

Remember you can take some nonsense domain like zillow.com, and
become the leading real estate site. Biggest secret on the net is that
      cool domain thingy works.
