Adwords from Another Location

I live in Columbus, Ohio and I am doing adwords for a doctor in Boston. I couldn't do a new campaign for him since I live in Columbus - Google will only allow me to do local ads, even though I am using his account.

Is there any chance that I can still create a campaign for the Boston area instead of where I reside?

If you mean that you want to create a PPC campaign for the doctor and have your ads only appear in the Boston region then you just need to turn on GEO targeting in your campaign settings. From there you can target specific cities, states etc. At least I assume you can...in the UK you can anyway.

Works the same way in the states as well. I do it all the time. In fact, I just setup a campaign earlier today for a company in Illinois and I am in Cali.

Yeah, there is no reason you can't do this. We're targeting other countries and even specific regions of those countries. If we can do that, then I'm sure you can target Boston from Ohio.

I also sent Peter a pm in case he answers, but I searched everywhere for what I thought was a simple local adwords question...

My local client wants me to start an adwords campaign, but I have only done ones for affiliate marketing. What keywords and geo location should I suggest?

[city roofing] exact match and geo target just my state?
        or
[roofing] exact match and geo target my city AND state?
or....an I way off the mark all together?

Thanks for any advice, I really appreciate it!

Hey I responded to your PM as well, but just for further clarification I find it easier to geo-target the campaign and then use the keywords I would use with that campaign. The main reason is let's say they handle an area that encompasses multiple towns or cities within an area and you do not want to have to list every city in combination with every keyword to control your list. Using the geo-targeted method you can make sure you target all the appropriate keywords for every possible location within that specific area.
