I made a blog (sniper site) and it is currently the 3rd result on page one of google for my keyword. The keyword is "fast lvling". It gets 4,400 monthly searches, so I'm not sure why I am getting virtually 0 visitors. To be honest, I'm not expecting that many visitors and I don't think that my blog is the next best thing - I'm willing to accept that this blog will never get any traffic, but I'm wondering if there is any way I can salvage it, I just want to know what I did wrong. Is google adwords really that innaccurate, or does my site just suck?

(btw I've got another site with a keyword that gets 6,600 searches a month and is the #2 result, also basically 0 traffic)

Please help Warriors!
#3rd #page #result #traffic

Probably because people realize it's a misspelling and as soon as they do they click on the suggested -proper spelling- of the KW.

Hey guys, thanks for the quick responses. I understand the implications of using a misspelled keyword, but here's the thing, people misspell it on purpose. The gaming community (especially WoW players) are very fast paced, computer savvy people, and there is a huuge amount of jargon. If you take a look through any WoW Forum you'll find most people typing "lvling" rather than "leveling", and they expect the same results.

I understand that you are saying, but being on the 3rd page of a misspelled word is not going to work for you. Being on the Top 3-4 on the first page would work for you. I understand that people use words or shorten words to search but since Google is using the "Did You Mean" most people will then click on that.

I used to have a website that the title as misspelled on purpose! It should have been 2 words but instead I just made it one word. We were in the #1 position for both keywords, the wrong spelling and the correct spelling. We noticed that the traffic was about 15x greater on the correct spelling. Because most people just click the "Did you mean" or "Correct Spelling". Its just easier to get traffic with correct spelling.

alright point taken, your 15x results are remarkable, but you misread my post. I am the 3rd result on page one. I think I'll avoid misspellings from now on, but I thought that being the 3rd result on google for a keyword that gets 4,400 a month would warrant at least some traffic. There isn't even any "Did you mean..." when you search for "fast lvling".

Hey Biggy Fat, only 46 global searches a month? Where did you get this statistic? It's clearly accurate to my results so I'm not questioning it's accuracy, but I would love to know how to conduct a similar search. Obviously google adwords cannot be trusted if there can be a 95% difference between their results and reality.

if you are using wordpress blog try using the all in 1 SEO plug and maybe try getting ranked for a key word that is close to the key word your currently ranked for, i know this is not much info but its what i would do.

You might want to find out the exact search the keyword receives, many people make mistake and use the broad search to base their analysis.

I just checked it, it gets zero local searches monthly and all of forty-six searches global monthly. Exact count.

Try adding a fun meta description tag? People don't even know what kind of game guide it is and that would def. deter people from hitting your url.

I second that. The meta description is what they see first, so you need to make them want to click on your site by putting something intriguing or exciting there. Meta description is a very underrated aspect of website marketing.

Thanks a lot for the great responses, I didn't even know there were broad/exact options in adwords (can you tell I'm new?). Anyway, I'll take all of this into consideration on my next blog, thanks again.

First off, your misspelled word does not get 4,400 searches monthly, it gets 46, so it is no wonder that you are not getting any clicks. Never use the 'broad' when you determine search volume. Every time somone types in the word 'fast' in a search query, that wil go into that search volume, and they damn sure aren't searching for your site, and I doubt it will show up.

You are getting one and a half searches a day for your key word, so good luck getting any to click through.

I see nobody talking of the competition. For such a measerly 46 searches monthly(Exact), the "exact" competition is quite high at about 24700 sites vying for this keyword phrase.

This is to be shared amongst all the competing 24700 websites

Also timing is relevant as it takes time to rank and your page rank also comes into play in determining your keyword ranking.

Little tip I learned from the Market Samurai videos:

Check the ratio of Broad Match traffic vs. Phrase Match and Exact Match.

It could be that "fast lvling" isn't what people are searching for. It could be "how to do fast lvling" or "lvling fast".

What is the Exact Match traffic?

I should have looked at the exact traffic before I made the site, which is only 46 searches a month(4,400 general, 2,900 phrase). I got fooled thinking there would be more searches. Like Dele said 24,700 is a lot to be competing for an exact keyword that gets 46 searches a month, maybe they forgot to do an exact search too . At least my blog worked correctly, it was indexed and ranked #3 on google the day after I finished it, and now I have the #4 spot as well with another page from the site. We'll see how many of those 46 searches I can get lol.

The numbers you see with the Google Keyword Tool are not accurate. No one really knows how many searches a keyword gets. There are many examples of people ranking number 1-2-3 for keywords and getting no traffic even though Google shows that thousands are searching for that keyword every month.

The biggest problem is that there is no other source (not that I know of) that can provide you with with better and accurate numbers.

Weird thing...I also chose a keyword that was SUPPOSEDLY getting thousands of searches per month. I rank number 2 for that keyword. A couple of weeks later, I recheck the keyword using the Adwords tool and the number of searches went from thousands to the magic number "46". That tool is a SCAM!

Yep, I concur, the Adwords Tool is innaccurate, that is why you need to use more than one tool for your keyword research.
