Hello everyone
I have a site, Wedding Speeches-My Amazing Wedding Speeches - Home
I am a novice, but I think wedding speeches would be too hard to rank for, so I am contemplating initially using article marketing around the long tail keywords, eg. best man wedding speeches or maid of honour wedding speeches etc. If I do this, what effect, if any does this have on the main website, where the h1 and h2, domain and description are wedding speeches?
Regards
Tony

You achieve rankings for keywords with the right links by using the right anchor text. "Wedding speeches" is a moderately competitive term and you could rank for it with the right links. However, long tail keywords such as the ones you mention will have a better conversion rate. If you are limited to free link building, since the links you will be getting are of low quality and henc weak, it's best to concentrate on a handful of the most relevant long tail keywords and to achieve decent rankings for those before moving on to others. That said, I also recommend building some links with the anchor text "wedding speeches", as those contribute to your rankings for all longtail keywords across the board containing that phrase.

Right now your site is very thin: you will have a lot of trouble ranking a three-page site. Create pages that correspond to your top-level categories and build links to those individual pages as well as to the home page. Use the right keywords in your title tags. Right now the title of your home page leaves much to be desired. Repeating "wedding speeches" is a waste of "title real estate" and no one searches Google for "amazing wedding speeches" -- that keyword is a dead dud. You can use hype in your content but don't waste your title tags on it -- thy re the most important part of on-page SEO!
