How to see the site behind AdWords ad

I want to check competitor's sites that are behind the AdWords ads, but I do not want to click on their ad links, since that is obviously unethical. Is there a way of reaching the exact landing page to which AdWords ad is pointing, but without clicking onto the link in the ad.

  • In IE, right click on the link and choose "Copy Shortcut".
In FF, right click on the link and choose "Copy Link".
Paste it into the address bar
  • Kirk's solution will be as if you clicked on their ad.

There is no way to know the landing page other than clicking the ad.

    • I thought that Kirk's solution was wrong, but wanted to avoid quarreling about it. Even after cutting and pasting that link, you'll be still using a Googl's link, which will register on Google's server as ad click.

Kind of I want to mass check all the competitors, only once, and see their landing pages. If I start doing that Google is going to punish my IP address or even myself. So I guess only some kind of proxy would do it.

when you copy the url as mentioned by kirk (in ie) there is a section about half way down

    &adurl=

if you delete before that you are just left with the destination url which would eliminate the tracking ?

may be wrong but appears ok on the surface

    • Yeah, I thought of that. Only thing I can not decipher what %XXXX characters meant and where this inner URL ends. But, I agree, that is the way to go.
