A Question For SEO People......

Hey guys

I am gonna cut to the chase....

I understand the basic principles of SEO onpage and offpage but I have a question regarding onpage.

Say for example I am optimizing a page on " Fish Tanks". In terms of H1 does that need to be at the start? Does that make sense?

eg:

***(This is how I normally do it)***:

(<H1>Fish tanks - The benefits of owning a fish tank </H1>)

****( But is there a difference if I do this...)***:

(<H1> Choosing from the many fish tanks available </H1>)

You see what I mean. Does one way offer an advantage over the other? I prefer the 2nd option as my content pages can seem more natural.

Someone please clarify for me please.

  • Some will tell you that your keywords need to lead the H1 tag...

Myself, I write pages for consumers, not for search engines, so I am happy just to include my target keywords in the H1 tag...

I do well in the search engines regardless, so I don't consider one or the other to be the best answer....
  • Design your pages for users, not for search engines. Search engines are getting smarter and smarter. They can figure out what your site's content is about. While it is generally true that having the most important content first will highlight that importance to search engines, if it detracts from the user experience even slightly, it isn't worth it.
