Reciprocal Linking

Reciprocal link building is when two websites link to each other. Both websites will benefit in increasing search engine rankings but you have to be careful which sites you link with. You do not want to link with a site you are already competing with for rankings and you have to wary of fraud web masters. It is important to make sure the business or site you are linking with is trust worthy.

This is an area I would be very careful about. There was a time when reciprocal linking worked well to get ranked, but now if you do too much of this it can get you penalized. The same applies for 3 way linking. It's find to exchange links with 2-3 sites in your niche, but once you start to have a "campaign" I would be very wary.

You dont need any special plugin for that.You can create a simple page name it resources and start adding your links.

Ive never tryed it and I probably wont. Thats probably why googles PR scores has a hard time to compute

Focus on building one way back links with proper anchor text via links from other sites you have, articles, comment links, etc. In the long run you will be better off.

I was always told to run away from link exchanges, reciprocal or not. They are nothing but eventual bad news, and one day it will catch up to you.

Funny, I've been doing it for almost 6 years. Haven't run into penalty issues on it, not sure how much it helps but it brings in human visitors if I link with these relevant sites, so I to it to supplement my google traffic not aid it directly.

You can click on "links" in your wordpress panel, and add them to your blogroll.

You don't need a plugin. The links will be displayed on the side of your homepage, and more webmasters will actually trade links with you this way.

Just make sure that they put you in their blogrolls or homepages as well.

You could simply make a page (as opposed to a post) which you called "links" or "resources" and then just give the URL of this page to the other webmasters - then just copy any HTML that they require for reciprocal links onto this page. However, from your question I suspect you are after something more complex than this?

Thank you guys for your posts. I was just thinking of granting reciprocal links to web directories with high PR that specifically requested for reciprocal links as a condition for inserting my own links in their directories.

Don't waste time with reciprocal linking unless you are certain you can get good amount of traffic. SEO wise it's too risky of a strategy when you can get one way links so much easier.

Reciprocal backlink just means a backlink done bothways i.e. in both sites - your's and the other party's. You both agree to place each other's link on each other's website.

"Normal" backlink is taken to mean one-way backlinking where you insert your link on another's website without putting that other's link on your own website.
