When researching competition's URL do you use full link or root link?

I was wondering what most of you guys/gals do when you are researching the top ten spots in Google to determine whether or not a keyword if worth going after in terms of competition. For example

Lets say your keyword is Blue Diamonds and the first link listed in top then is

hxxp://wwx.bigjohnsstore.com/bluediamondsales

Do you go off the data from the entire link to determine PR and backlinks or do you trim it down to the root to investigate the competition?

like

hxxp://wwx.bigjohnsstore.com
#competition #full #link #researching #root #url
  • Profile picture of the author Saltefanden12
    hxxp://wwx.bigjohnsstore.com/bluediamondsales

If it has the best rank, there is a reason.

I may be wrong, but I am going with the root domain...

You should check the full link as that is your main competition, but you should always know that the number for links to the root domain and its PR also have a say in the ranking of the specific page you want to overcome.

  • If you are concern with a competitor analysis then I think to do with only domain. But if you are just targeting a particular competitor product of a particular then a complete link.
