dot net exact or dot com close

I am about to purchase a couple of domains for local niche marketing.
I can get the exact keywords for dot net. If I go for dot com I will have to add online or some other suffix.
Searched through forums and the predominate advice seems to be that it will not matter if my SEO is good. The questions posed were not exactly the same or I did not search long enough.
So I am asking for some advice so I can start on my SEO.
Thanks in advance

I'd take the dot net exact. It should do the trick.

      Thanks Don
I researched some of my keywords in Larger Markets and have seen plenty of dot net's ranked 1-5 for the same keywords. I should have thought of that before I posted.

Appreciate the sentiment. I seek to do my job right so as not to rely on luck.

Google doesn't discriminate between .net and .com but user's often do and it's easier to remember a .com

I would look into a few version of the .com with hyphens though. .com is always best, but .net isn't bad either.

Don't spend too much time deciding There are more important things you could be working on.

Ya you cannot go wrong with an exact matching domain my friend!

You should be fine depending on the niche, sometimes .com is best for psychological reasons when selling etc.

    Good luck.

dot com is more valuable regardless of the services that are being rendered, but .net are for providers and others things a like. But you should get the dot com and then if you use godaddy, pick up the .net for discount.

if you plan on really utilizing the domains and building your business, i would buy all of them , add wordpress, add useful seo content and then fill it with affiliate and adsense and then from there..add some links from your main url and other related blogs to increase it's value and get indexed and as time goes on..bring it to the first page on all engines...this way when people search for your company they will see you have other websites and that has useful content, plus you could add a pop up to capture email and then you can promote to them from your main url...

.net will rank just as well as the .com but you could tack a "Google stop word" (words that Google overlooks) onto the end and get a .com. Examples would be "keywordgo.com" and "keywordthe.com"
