I have two sites. One for each niche. The sites are set up similarly.I've done the same things in promoting them. One is found only by Google and the other one is only found by Bing. They haven't been up for long but this still strikes me as strange.Does anyone know what it might be? I'm using Market Samurai to check this.

How long have they been up for? And what kind of promoting did you do?

They are both indexed by Google (assuming it's the 2 in your sigs)

Neither sites have any content at all though, so I'd suggest that that is your priority.

You can do all the backlinking in the World, but without content you'll find it hard to rank

I forgot to mention that it's not the sites that are in my sig.The sites I'm talking about are actually younger. I guess I shouldn't be surprised in this being like this. But I still think it's a little strange. There is good content on the sites. It's not the ranking itself that bothers me.It's the part of trying to understand the search engines that bothers me

@Tristan yeah There is no content on the sites in my sig. That's a problem for me.What content can there be on a classified site? :S

Ah okay, fair enough then Yep that is a little odd. SEs don't always act consistently so it's probably just that. It can be like shooting into the dark, but just keeping on backlink building and (if applicable) adding new content will hopefully see things sort themselves out within a few weeks or so.

Good question :p Erm, I'd suggest possibly to add a quick 100-150 word introduction for each category. That way Google has something to work from I guess. But yeah, you're right that for a classifieds site it's pretty tricky.

    Hi Halli!

When it comes to new sites I find that they can be the biggest pain in the world. I've had two day old sites jump to #1 for competitive terms only to fall to page 21 and then finally settle in around #3.

When I build new sites I want it to look very natural to Google. What this means is that I usually put one page of content up at a time and then PING it with pingler(.)com or another pinging service.

What this tells Google is that your website is naturally growing and the Google spider will come back naturally to look for more and more content to index.

A lot of mistakes that people make is to instantly throw a website up with all the content all at once. Initially Google will love you but after a while the robot will keep coming back and finding no new updates and will "classify" the site as stale and "non-fresh".

Keep adding content and be sure to PING your blog and rss feeds and you'll soon find your place in the SERPS.

    Good luck OP!

yeah I try to ping them after each new update. But what I'm wondering about is why only Google finds one site and Bing the other.

  • Don`t know what the problem could be, but You can try SpiderFX - Lite , if You didn`t yet. Really great tool, gives You complete review from google point. I discovered a lot of problems with my website after that test. It`s free and fast.

SEs are completely unpredictable as it is meant to be. I have experienced the same problem while building backlinks simultaneously to related niche websites, and only one of them ranked high while the other was neglected by Google.
Its been 3 months and the sites are performing well in both Bing and Google, Just wait a little bit while the two sites gets stability in the SEs.
