Ideas on how to rank a brand new site fast...

I've had decent success in the past ranking old domains to number 1 in big G. Yesterday I've registered a bunch of new domains (after competition research of course).

So far I think my strategy to get them to number 1 fast will be:

1) Get up wordpress and use a seo'd template
2) Get site indexed using pings and a small amount of profile backlinks + blog backlinks
3) Put up 5 posts centered around the site's keywords (and synonyms) using decent on page SEO
4) Have the posts indexed using backlinks

The dangerous point is 4): How to avoid being sandboxed.

Any ideas on this strategy?

    There is no sandbox.

There is no list to get a site ranked fast.

There are however, good seo techniques, that when followed, over
time, can improve your chances of ranking a site. Anything that one
may do for a quick jump, will most likely fall from grace just as fast.

Your site does not exist in a vacuum.

The first thing on your list should be to provide useful content to
visitors in an easy to navigate manner. That's not even on your list.
People forget that word of mouth is the best technique around.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

I agree on what you say about content. I'm a bit unsure about word of mouth... getting online traffic by offline means is generally a bit tricky.

I myself use UAW ( check signature for details ) for all my sites the day they go up. But other tactics are submiting it to sites like identi.ca and folkd.com . This rarely took more than 3 days for my BRAND new sites to get indexed.

I never pinged. Have never spammed any forums etc.

    Content #1 ! Social bookmarking #2.

    Hope this helped.

Thanks- I've used article marketing in the past and found that providing well-written articles to the top 10 or 12 directories really made a difference. Sending out spun content to hundreds of minor article directories using a tool didn't move my sites in the rankings, and brought no visitors (so, essentially, a waste of time).

Social bookmarking is definitely something to add to my "arsenal".
