  • Keyword density is the ratio of how many times a keyword appears on your page to the compared to the amount of words on your page. If you have a 500 word article and your keyword is weight loss and it appears throughout your article 5 times then your keyword density is 1%.

    • Hi Kim,

Thanks for your advise, but I need your advise on below too.

      I am abit confuse.

Let set an example. If I have a content of 100 words and we set the density at 5%, this mean the keywords will have to appear in my content for 5 times right?

What if this keywords target is to generate traffic to my main page? I would need more keywords. Let said I have 7 keywords but content still remind at 100 words.

      1) Do I have to include the 7 keywords 5 times in these 100 words content

      or

      2) I have to increase the content to 100 words

      or

      3) I can only target one keyword per page so I have to use the reminding keywords in other pages?

  • If you repeat your keywords with every other word on every line, then your site will probably be rejected as an artificial site or spam site.

Keyword density is always expressed as a percentage of the total word content on a given web page.

Suppose you have 100 words on your webpage (not including HMTL code used for writing the web page), and you use a certain keyword for five times in the content. The keyword density on that page is got by simply dividing the total number of keywords, by the total number of words that appear on your web page. So here it is 5 divided by 100 = .05. Because keyword density is a percentage of the total word count on the page, multiply the above by 100, that is 0.05 x 100 = 5%

The accepted standard for a keyword density is between 3% and 5%, to get recognized by the search engines and you should never exceed it.

Remember, that this rule applies to every page on your site. It also applies to not just to one keyword but also a set of keywords that relates to a different product or service. The keyword density should always be between 3% and 5%.

Simple steps to check the density:

    * Copy and paste the content from an individual web page into a word-processing software program like Word or Word Perfect.
    * Go to the ‘Edit’ menu and click ‘Select All’. Now go to the ‘Tools’ menu and select ‘Word Count’. Write down the total number of words in the page.
    * Now select the ‘Find’ function on the ‘Edit’ menu. Go to the ‘Replace’ tab and type in the keyword you want to find. ‘Replace’ that word with the same word, so you don’t change the text.
    * When you complete the replace function, the system will provide a count of the words you replaced. That gives the number of times you have used the keyword in that page.
    * Using the total word count for the page and the total number of keywords you can now calculate the keyword density

  • If you only plan on doing on site SEO, keyword density is important. If you are doing off site SEO, this is not important. Most successful SEO is performed off site, i.e. 80%-90% is off site.
  • Better have dedicated content for specific keyword, and always start the first paragraph with your keyword.
  • keyword density is measured as the number of repeatition of a keyword in per 100 word.....
  • How far each keyword is from each other.

The closer each keyword is the higher the %
The further each keyword is the lower the %
  • This is a term that you shouldn't even try to understand for 3 reasons

    1. Google does not take this into consideration
    2. There is no magic number
    3. you will end up writing for search engines rather than readers

  • For seo keyword density is very important. It helps to rank the page.Keyword density in easy words is In your page content how you used the keywords.how many times it appears .Count of the keyword appears is called.

    • I respectfully disagree. Keyword density may have been important years ago, but as stated before it doesn't hold much truth or value as it used to. Its about having your keywords used correctly in the correct spots. Just because your site may have a 3%-5% density doesn't mean you will rank higher.

Focus on right quality content, not keyword based content. And then worry about building links, title tags, heading tags, with your keyword.
