I am having problem redirecting a link - Help please

Hello warriors,
I have manage to redirect the http://www.site.com -> http://site.com.
Now i am trying to redirect the page http://www.mysite.com/index.php -> http://mysite.com but it is not working.
I am using hostgator. I go to 301 redirect, select my domain and put index.php on the first field.
The second field i put http://site.com. on my logs it says it is done, but when i time http://site.com/index.php or http://www.site.com/index.php it does not redirect.
Anyone knows why is this?
