Hi everyone,

Which is it better to split your site up into different countries or cities:

www.examplesite.com/city-name/page.php

Or

city.examplesite.com/page.php

This is for a site that will have different agents (similar to franchises) in different cities that require a separate sub site.

I would stick with this format: www.examplesite.com/city-name/page.php

Google treats subdomains kind of like separate sites. Using a folder structure will help you better leverage that link equity.

He is exactly correct. Matt Cutts has adreessd this many times. They suggest the folders vs subdomains. As the sumdomains won't always pass their PR around with your root domain.

Yep!, I also agree with everyone else.

It is also better from a visitor perspective. Psychologically we are used to things 'flowing downhill' so the structure of main site at the top with 'city'(smaller) following will make the visitor more comfortable. Especially if the cities start adding additional local divisions in. And Google's all about user experience so that all fits perfectly.

Wow... A consensus on an internet marketing topic. That doesn't happen very often in the Warrior Forum! lol

The fact is Matt Cutts or google have addressed a vast majority of questions that come up. They give an answer. That is better than any WF member can come up with.

Most the arguments are silly. The "true" answers are right in front of us. Spelled out.
