Ok I wanted to clear this up because I keep hearing different opinions on this.

If you place a link on a non relevant but well respected and high PR website, does that link still carry the same value if the site subject is completely different?

Basically if I have a weight loss site, and post a link on a well respected video game site. Will that backlink still carry the same value though the subjects are not relevant?

    An obviously relevant link will carry more weight, but any decent link will do.

    Find sites with same content as yours will be a better backlink...
    Not Necessary at All.. Guys just build links from Any Quality site n keep on doing that...

    Yeah, if it comes from a relevant website then the Google algos actually recognize this as it looks more natural, so that link will be worth a lot more than one from an off topic site.

      This has certainly not been my experience. Similarly, Google rewards non-natural looking links and likely always will.
