PR/Authority

I recently acquired a PR8 link that goes to http://mydomain.com/keyword-page.php

Is that going to also benefit my index page at http://www.mydomain.com and help increase the overall PR for the domain? Or would it be best to have that link going to the main index page?

  • Yeah, if you have good interlinking it should. If that page has a link to the main index page, then some link juice will flow back to the index.

    • It would have more benefit going to the index page, but as said it will pass some PR as long as it's linked.
  • It will benefit your index if you choose to use nofollow to the rest of the pages in your website such as "contact us" etc, by doing this you can direct the flow of PR to relevant pages such as the index and increase there PR in the process.

If the index is highly relevant (than the rest of the pages) then link it to the index. And use nofollow as above
  • If your "mydomain.com/keyword-page.php" link to your index page it will help increasing its PR, it will increase the overall for domain if all your pages are linking, but i don't think there is such as "overall PR of domain", as PageRank is just a rank on one page and you can have unlimited page on your domain
