Does pagerank matter A LOT for how high you're ranked on search engines? like how much %... 30%?

Also, do you guys think the PR system is logarithmic or linear?

Should maximizing PR be a good SEO tool?

  • PR is just a measure on the Authority of your site. It don't directly help you in Ranking. But the more authority you are, the more priority you'll get. You can't measure it in percentage! It varies from situation to situation!
  • Hi omgvictory,

It's probably better to think of PageRank as an effect, not a cause for ranking. You can have high PR and be outranked by a page that has little or no PR. SERP ranking isn't based on your PR score, it is based on relevance.

PageRank can weight the influence your outbound links have on the relevance scores of pages that you link to, likewise the PR of pages that link to yours will weight the influence those links may have on your page's relevancy scores.

Toolbar PageRank is represented as a logarithmic scale.

  • PR and rankings are not directly connected. But a site with high PR does have more trust and might be easier to rank than a low PR site. With the right SEO that is.
