When do you want to earn money, today or tomorrow?

Google could care less if you have done any SEO. In fact, they
may even reward you for doing less SEO nonsense.

Why make a blog or webpage if you are not going to toss something
decent on it?

If it's not ready for adsense, then it's not ready for the web.

But don't equate crummy websites with any penalties from google,
or lack of good traffic. A crummy website is different than one that
has tried to schmooze google. Many times they are not one and the
same. People sometimes forget this.

It is a bit of an old wives tale to say that Google frowns on sites that have Adsense on them too early. However, you need to ask yourself, what is the point of adding Adsense before you have ranking and traffic coming in?

The problem for me with putting Adsense on too early is the temptation and pressure it puts on a new site. It is too easy to take your eye off the ball and spend your time checking Adsense stats rather than concentrating on getting backlinks and adding good content to your site.

There is a reason to wait until all the pieces are in place and that's Adsense itself, nothing SEO-wise.

Adsense will display better quality (aka higher paying) ads when it's bot can easily determine the content of your pages and site as a whole. If you place it on an incomplete site, you may delay getting relevant ads. But, if your site is ready to go so far as content and configuration go, just go ahead and place the ads.
