Is the word "Naked" hurting my blog?

On my personal blog Jason Moffatt I've had the title of the blog... "Bare Naked Brain Fodder".

I was curious if anyone may have any info that would suggest it may not be a good idea for any SEO purposes? Am I missing out on traffic that has an adult filter in search engines just from the words "bare naked"?

I was just checking my Google analytics and noticed I was getting traffic from phrases like...

... leonardo dicaprio bare

and

... and womens name + naked

I'm just curious if anyone knows how Google and other search engines would treat this and whether or not changing the name would be wise?

    Look at it from this point of view, you can change it for the search engines. But with a blog you usually end up showing up on some fairly ODD search results pages. Your site would definitely be in the miscellaneous category!

    If you have different themes for every post you may want to target a brand name/site name throughout the title tags. If you are selling Internet Marketing services you should probably make a specific site/blog about it.

    Remember people search for 'naked' stuff all the time and that there's no penalty at all for having an adult site from a purely SEO perspective. The only beef Google has with adult sites is that far too many of them use cutthroat BH tactics to try to rank. That's why a clean, non-adult content, site can end up ranking well for some risque keywords, the real adult sites have been penalized.

    What matters is potential content filtering by firewall programs and the like. There is a potential that 'net nanny' type programs might put you on their blacklist if you start ranking for certain adult oriented search terms. Therefore, avoid link building on the terms although you don't have to worry about stray long tail traffic.

    I wouldn't be too concerned.

    Having the words "bare" and "naked" as a title are bound to attract those search terms. You shouldn't be missing out on traffic.

    how about bikini site's??? I have a blog setup for celebrity bikini's a an adsense website only. Will it be banned to use adsense or encountered any problems with the word bikini?

      I doubt you'll have any problems with being banned. Bikinis are not adult material.

    I think its not the word that you've stated above will affect your traffic this is how the content will show if the word is complicated, and i think a well balanced content will do.

      Google does not provide words like that in the suggestions, and probably
      not in the instant. I have not checked that last one, but it stands to reason.

      That actually might help you, as your content should be king, and if you
      get a few crumbs from other searchers who stumble in, think of how you
      can monetize that.

      Since you have made the choice to have posts on anything and everything,
      you have made the choice to go the route of running the risk of kid friendly
      censors anyway. The net is about freedom, right?

    Search engines do come up with some odd results sometimes - it's the nature of the beast. I think you should be fine. Google understands what kind of site yours is based on all the keywords, not just ones in your title. If you frequently speak about adult topics, then you might not get shown as such. Otherwise, I think you're fine.
