i have submitted press releases to google new sites that have been picked up on 745 sites but i do not rank for that keyword.

the anchor text i used was for a low competition kw. backlinks on the first page of google for kw for top 3 positions were less than 100 so why with my 745 backlinks am i not ranking?

so my question is do the backlinks created by google news submissions count in keyword rankings?

thanks for you help;

    Answer = Depends on the site. Some press release sites delete you after a while or keep moving you down the site until it's non-existent. I think google adjusts when it comes to press release sites. They're great to get you on the first page for a few hours, sometimes even a few days, but for permanent rankings I believe you have to use other sources and keep up with your press releases.

    P.S. Submitting to Google directly has never been a good idea, don't start it with press releases. Always to get a good ranking submit it elsewhere and google will catch it.

    Hi Maryjane,
    Press Release is very effective in getting your site spidered and indexed by search engines. But your domain could be a fairly new one in comparison to your competitors' sites that are mature and ranking well on Google. No one can turn the clock back. You will be rewarded soon.

    Please create a Google Webmasters account and look at the backlinks to your site. Google will show how many backlinks your site actually has.

    Another reason for your site not coming up could be that you used the same anchor text on all the 745 backlinks. This can cause problems. It is good if you vary your anchor text and also substitute the kewyword with synonyms (Related keywords as a Google Keyword Tool would point out)
