I really need your help on backlinks

Can anyone offer some advice to a struggling noob please?

This is my problem.
Sometimes I drop lucky and discover a gem of a keyword that has decent results and minimal competition. It wouldn't take much to rank on page 1 pos.1 of Google, in theory a couple of dozen good backlinks would do the job nicely.

I mostly write articles to obtain the backlinks to help push my chosen keyword up the rankings. I have also tried blog commenting but find it tedious because I never spam, I always take time to read the post and leave a responsible and worthy comment. It just seems to take such a long time do get even half a dozen backlinks doing this method. As far as social bookmarking I have never really got my head around that because it seems if you just bookmark all your own stuff again it makes you seem like a spammer and I would feel very uncomfortable with that.

I think the biggest dilemma is that all my backlinking efforts are not being indexed and they seem to be a lot of work for no benefit. This is making me frustrated and disheartened. Can anyone offer any advice on how to obtain backlinks that will be indexed and prove helpful in ranking my keywords? Any suggestions would be greatfully received.

I lurked around the Warrior Forum for a longtime before I had the courage to join and it has taken quite a bit of courage to make a post like this in front of so many successful people but I could really use a little help.

Ping and bookmark the pages you comment on and with bookmarks, nothing is stopping you from bookmarking other sites as well. I make it a point to diversify my bookmarks.
Submit high quality articles and others will syndicate it.
Find places to submit as a guest blogger, look up "your niche" "guest blogger".
Or check out some software like "Comment Kahuna".

My dear friend. You are trying article marketing for backlinking and obviously it will take time, but think about after some months you will have probebly 20-30 articles approved and you will get benifieted from backlinking.

    - Secondly, you can use onlywire.com type social bookmarking site which will realease pressure on you. It will bookmark your website, articles to 20+ social bookmarking sites.

    - You should try to get quality backlink. That means you should link website to relavent and high page rank website.

    - While backlinking you should use your exact keyword in anchor text. Otherwise you will not get juse of it.

    - This is just few tips. You can search many more here at this forum. Don't get frusted. It is all about patience game.

    - Pradeep

The core value for any website to rank on search engine results pages lies in the relevant and popularity of a website. It is always suggestive to apply the know SEO strategies like optimizing your website with SEO syntax and content. Later you will need to apply some link-building efforts like what you are doing with your articles. Press Release and Forum participation can also help you.

If you find your keyword ranking drops there can be several reasons. Your competitors links might appear more relevant in Google's point of view. So when you find such difference analyze what's happening.

Join bloggeries, v7n, and netbuilders.org, and use their recent blog post feature. It pulls a link from your blog, and adds it next to your name in every post you make in the forum. Its a quick and easy way to build up deep backlinks.

Besides that, there is always social bookmarking - mixx, packg, mister wongs, digg,,,,,,.

There is really no short cut in building backlinks unless you want to invest in some tools. However I would'nt forget about profile backlinking if I were you. That is probabaly the most effective free backlinks that you can get.
Try to mix things up and never concentrate on only one method of building links.
If I had no money to invest I would at first do a lot of article marketing. If you post to Ezinearticles make sure to rewrite your article (at least partially) and send it to Goarticles,Squidoo, hubpages, etc with a link to your site. I would do a lot of profile backlinks as well. Blog commenting would come third as it takes too much time.

And for backlinking 101, why not look into a subscription from Angela or Paul? There are many threads in this forum about those packets.

Whenever you create a backlink, you have to wait for google to eventually find it, (which it will it might just take a long time)

Inorder to show google your links, you need to bookmark, and ping the url to the backlink

(save all your urls and ping them once a day and keep track of whcih links you havnt get yet and ping accordingly)

Thats pretty much all you can do besides taking it one step further and backlinking your backlinks.. but thats just a mission :p

I like RSS feed directories to help articles and other backlinks to get indexed. I use RSS Submit, but there is also Allscoop RSS submitter which is free.

Mybloglog.com and blogcatalog.com show around 20 links for all sorts of tags on any blog I list there. They are social and lots of bloggers like to help each other too.

Guest blogging: Looking for guest bloggers or guest post? Join MyBlogGuest! is a great place to hook up on Guest Blogging right now.

A neat little trick I recently discovered is that Blogger Blogs will take 500 characters of any anchor text and add it to the feed of every post. In setting>RSS you will see this. I have a few blogger blogs that mainly I use the sharethis firefox plugin to send stuff into. Blogger is dofollow so I am sure that helps. It only takes a second to send anything to digg, twitter, reddit or blogger with sharethis. Do this for your friends too.

I use onlywire to bookmark to a nice list of sites and Amplify.com to clip stuff that will forward to multiple other places automatically. It is dofollow and so is identi.ca and comments on squidoo lenses.

From what I understand wouldn't it be not the greatest idea to bookmark and ping your backlinks? Isn't it a better practice to just let Google find them over time?

    Here's a couple of quick tips -
    1) get the firefox "dofollow" plugin (google it)
    2) start finding do follow blogs to post *valuable* comments on.
    3) build a database of "freehosts" - sites that allow you to post a free blog or whatever on their domain, and you can put in your do-follow links. Example - wordpress. Create some content (a quick way to do this is to copy-paste any random musings, poems, unpublished articles etc and throw them up there; then create a few articles with the title of the pages you want to link to, a paragraph describing your site and a link with the keywords in the anchor text.

There's a ton more. Link building is all about patience and persistence.
