I haven't seen as much lately concerning the submission of press releases to free sites. (I know paid sites like PRWEB work well)

Anyone have any recent success for SEO using this tactic?

Most free press release sites have Paid options, you will benefir more from these sites if you can go the extra mile by using the paid options, as this will ensure you submission will be more widely syndicated to all their media partners site, and sometime you discover that most of the free services will not syndicate your press release to Google News which is key when using PR, but if you can pay a little extra you will benefit more from your Press Release submission as it will be widely syndicated to most of their choiced partners including Google News and others.

Thanks...that is what I suspected. Most people on this forum want bum (free) marketing tactics so needing to pay to be most effective may explain why there hasn't been as much interest lately.

ABSOLUTELY YES. Choosing the right keywords will put you on the first page of Google where you can get hundreds even thousands of new visitors in a few days.

Try prlog.org. They are great and rank well.

I've also had some success with PRLog. However, they do not let you use anchor text in the body of your press release (only the straight-up http:// address will create a link)

Personally, I don't understand why people are paying hundreds of dollars to sites like PRWeb, when the free ones offer most of the same services. For example, PRLog sends your press release to a ton of search engines, RSS feeds, and news services. You can't do much better than that!

Thanks Nicole. Admittedly, I only use PRWEB for SEO benefits and secondarily for the distribution. Seems like PRLOG is just as good for distribution purposes.

I'll definitely disagree with that although I use free press release sites more often than I do paid. Prweb has a much wider reach and the paid services give you anchor text rich links that Prlog does not provide.

I find most people don't use press releases properly. the idea isn't just to syndicate the press release. You shoud be putting out something news worthy that writers who see it are tempted to mention it in their articles. Unfortunately most Imers don't have that. they are just looking to move an ebook or promote an affiliate opportunity.

The quality in the backlinks from these sites gets diluted severely. It can be a real chore finding free PR sites that are worth much of anything for SEO.

Apparently this is not possible. This resource is good for wide distribution where users will read and hopefully like what they see and then type in your URL.

      No SEO benefit.

Yes definitely press release helps in getting quick traffic but is not so useful for permanent traffic. I suggest you to publish one press release in a week and 1 article a day.

Press releases rank really well in the search engines if you know what to do with them and how to do it. I've had much success with them. Its really awesome what a good press release + small promotion can do for you

Yes it is still beneficial. Because Press release distribution over the internet has become a popular trend these days both in the online marketing industry as well as in search engine optimization. A huge majority of online marketers and webmasters today are using press release submissions as their primary arsenal to get their websites to the front ranking of the search results and to circulate news of their company around the internet in a quick and easy manner.
Online press release submission can be assumed to provide "instant visibility" to a piece of news because these releases sites are often indexed very quickly in search engines and readers are able to circulate or share the piece of news via the press release sites to other multiple sources and web portals, and through social medias to their friends and followers.

I remember when I was just learning SEO I always thought that PressReleases were useless. But I started observing a few people use them to launch their new product or service on the web. And I can defiantly say that the SEngines love press releases even if they are free.

I remember one guy was saying that "free" PReleases will not work for you SEO wise. But he was wrong. I recall when I was creating a link building campaign for a particular niche. And I used a free PRelease platform. Come to find out my PRelease ranked within the search engine within 3 days and i got good traffic from it.

Yes they do work. But always remember PageRank is something to consider. There is something that I found out about that but that is an entirely different subject.

      Hoped that helped!

Some free PR sites gave good traffic to your web site. It is not necessary that only paid site gave good result.
