Article Alley Bad News For Backlinks

Hi Everyone
Just been doing a little homework on some of my old sites including checking their backlinks on backlinkwatcher.com and discovered that Article Alley use the 'No Follow' coding on their site.
I do not recall ever seeing this before which either means I missed it or they have just introduced it.
I have to date been faithfully submitting articles to lots of directories including Article Alley however apart from them distributing my articles on and maybe a few clicks directly through there site and not sure if there is enough benefit for me to continue using them.
I am really trying to develop my knowledge of SEO and backlinking ... so anyone with a good solid view on this would be welcome right about now.
