Hey,

I am doing some keyword research right now and I stumbled over a few keywords I thought they could be a winner. I checked the competition in MS and I got a little bit confused. There are a lot of high PR websites with a hughe amount of Domain Backlinks but the pages that rank high for the keyword have only a few <50 page backlinks. There are pages like amazon.com, buy.com, walmart.com, bestbuy.com, ...
Here is an example:

You see what I am talking about. So do you think this is a strong competition or is it quite a weak competition.
What are your thoughts?

David

I wouldn't let that put me off, I have beaten Amazon on a number of pages, the domain backlinks are more important for sites that have a domain relevance to the keyword searched for e.g. Amazon cover everything, they are not specific to a niche to the domain PR is less important. The same applies to buy.con nexttag etc.
I love to see some of those sites on page #1 for keywords I'm targetting, because I know I can beat them.

I think I would give that a try if I had an exact match domain.

    Thanks to all.

I think I will give it a try and see what happens. But I will go for this one:

It has an exact match volume of 4.400 per month and a CPC of ~3$.

    We will see
