Any ideas on how to best use new google keyword tool?

Lets face it, we have to move on and adapt

so this thread is not about complaints and reminiscence about the old tool

The new keyword tool... i am not liking it too much

Can anyone add any little ideas on how to best use it?

I find that you get alot of LSI keywords when you don't uncheck boxes in the left hand "Contains" column but it seems to be not as accurate as the synonyms box in the previous interface.

Any recommendations as far as using Broad, [Exact], or "Phrase" match?

Another point i would like to add is the fact that you have to be signed into google adwords in order to get full results

if not you only get 100 results

this is should REALLY be affecting tools like MicroNicheFinder or Market Samurai right?

since they pull data from Google without logging in.. i just saw in my MicroNicheFinder that it displays all SOC's at 0 with a big green check mark, as in NO competition for the most BROAD and HIGHLY targeted keywords!!

does anyone here recommend wordtracker.com? do you know were it pulls the data from?:confused:

As far as I new the "new" keyword tool has been around for awhile now. MS has adjusted I'm sure and they are not shy about updating to keep up with SE's.

Wordtracker and wordstream will both give you very different numbers than Google does. Some people tell you to cross-reference the data with tools like wordtracker and wordstream, but when you do that without a strategy or plan you will probably just get even more frustrated.

Here's a good thread on Noble Samurai forum about this very topic. Please read it. Gallox throws up hard numbers, and ninjamarketing offers some good advice.

When you compile estimates from different mediums you can sometimes spot indicators which will give you insights on BIG keywords that would be worth the effort.

It's really like everything else. Play around with it long enough and you'll get the hang of it. Also, make sure you hit the help section for any questions...

I just saw now, it was recently updated it looks like I was incorrect in assuming it was the old update you were speaking of. Don't worry though, if you own MS I'm sure those guys are on top of the updates over at KeywordTool!

Google claims it is now going to be more accurate and that it is officially out of beta. The big difference here is the search network figures are no longer used.

Didacus, exact match is probably what you will be looking for as broad & phrase won't be relevant unless you have a high-authority site which will rank for related exact-match keywords.

hey. I just watched to the SKTool of google and it shows up a message that it will be down soon. Did I miss something?

ok so i tried the the option of "Ideas containing my search terms" under "Advanced Options"

it eliminates that annoying sidebar on the left labeled "Contains" and the keyword ideas dont see as off to my main keyword as before...

the issue though... is that this new tool is AdWords friendly..not natural SERP friendly because it excludes all GOOGLE partners

Really im sad to say that after using the "Advanced Options" i really like the interface..ONLY THAT ITS USELESS, like queries that used to have hundreds of thousands of global searches now have a few thousand!

very accurate for adwords users focused on google, but if you are relying on natural traffic you are screwed
