A number of fees are increasing. These include SEM related expenditure, SEM technology fees, search engine marketing agencies, etc. Online marketers are splurging a lot on paid placement campaigns, paid inclusions, organic search engine optimization, etc. As a matter of fact, SEO and SEO are specialized fields. If you want to excel at it, as an SEO/SEM consultant, you need to spend a great deal of time with all your clients to cater to their exact needs. You need to indulge in keyword research, ad campaign planning, on page optimization, off page optimization, etc. I hope I have made myself clear.

No SEM campaign is complete without SEO. Since the goal of SEO is to make the site more search engines and users, you may find that this will be enough by themselves. Finally, the benefits of SEO over other aspects of SEM, it is clear that even if you want to spend more money on advertising and paid placement, SEO must be the first step to promoting your site.

I think we can all agree that SEO is an important aspect of an IM campaign. However both SEO and SEM are only peices of the puzzle if you are looking for a truly comprehensive IM campaign.

This is much right that Online marketers are splurging a lot on paid placement campaigns, and that is main reason SEM/SEO is now becoming expensive. But i think SEO is first step in internet marketing, If you get keyword having 200,000 searches per month on first page of Google then what need of paid links?

PPC and SEO fall under SEM (search engine marketing) Different things but related to each other.

    SEM = PPC + SEO

Master both for the same niche and keyword and you've dominated the competition

    Well,
I will start with SEO, because it is part of SEM. SEO is the act of optimizing the HTML and other content to your website for relevant, targeted key phrases in order to achieve more natural than competing lists websites. Now SEM is broader than SEO.Personally, I would start with SEO and then go to SEM.

SEO stands for Search engine optimization while SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing. SEO is based on success in the long term natural search engine and SEM through sponsorship, advertising, banner and pay per click, which will help website owners to create immediate results recognizable.

  • I have to second Michael's and most others' opinion on this one. SEM = PPC + SEO + Years of Sweat + Relentless dedication + Understanding Clients' needs.

PPC, by itself, has its importance.
SEO, by itself, has its importance.
SEM = doubtlessly, has its place.

The question is not about what works what doesn't. Instead, don't you think it should start with:

    1. What business are you in?
    2. What works for your business?
    3. Do you have a marketing plan in place?
    4. If Internet Marketing has a place in it, how does it fan out?

Internet Marketing isn't just this or that -- it's an umbrella term for tons of ways you can market your website to get targeted traffic that lands on your well-optimized/well-written/well-designed pages that are designed to convert.

It can be done in multiple ways. Specifically, if it has to be about SEM, the only way you'll know it works for you is to try it, test it, analyze, re-deploy, test, and so on.
