How Does a Google Adsense Premium Account Actually Work?

I've read quite a bit about how certain websites obtain a Google Adsense Premium account when they achieve over 5,000,000 search queries (or over 20,000,000 content page views) per month. Much like websites like Ezine Articles, owners who achieve this feet not only get to display more Adsense blocks than ordinary Adsense publishers, but they also get the opportunity to negotiate directly with Google for revenue share on those advertisements hosted.

That is where things go a bit blurry though.

Clearly, the site owners did something right, and they have quite a bit of leverage in being able to show that their site gains a tremendous amount of visitors. Does anyone know how exactly this 'negotiation' with Google would unfold, that many articles speak of? Has anyone ever been in this position with a site they own? If so, how did negotiations unfold? Did you visit Google headquarters, and granted a seat in front of their execs to discuss?

I would worry about this later but I hear you don't actually have to do those numbers to become a Premium publisher. Somebody I talked to once told me he's a Premium publisher doing 10k+ USD/month.

I doubt there are so many priviledges, i.e. actually going to the Google HQ and discussing prospects.
Ofcourse the Premium Adsense publishers are treated too well to leave and they make enough income from Adsense so in either way, it's a win-win situation for both.

I'm not sure of increased number of Ad blocks per page but i'm pretty sure that the premium users can set their own custom size(dimensions) per Ad block which the regular users can't.

I've read on adsense forums that premium sites exceed 20 million impressions per month as a rule (that may be conjecture) - but the privilege is only possible by invitation from Google. Only Big G knows the qualifications.

There are considerable privileges for sites that are invited to participate - but most of us won't have to worry about it.

I am at about half that target(10MM pageviews monthly) and I can would love to increase it to 20MM. Problem is that my adsense revenue sucks big time because most of traffic is coming from Asia and South America. Only 15% is from US and Europe. If adsense paid half way decent for traffic from those regions, I could invest it back into the website and get to 20MM mark and try to get a premium adsense account which could pay more.

One of the biggest benefits they get is the ability to negotiate their revenue share.

I really doubt if you get to negotiate your share.

But they will guide you and help you in increasing conversions, better ad placements etc.
Also when you have that much of volume, you can use the AdSense API to deliver more 'blended-in' ads for higher CTR.

I know XFactor is one of the publishers with an allocated AdSense rep.

I think the qualification is based on the amount you earn, rather than the page views.
