Local SEO- plurals becoming bane of my existence

Five years ago I started my memphis lawyer site. Within a year got ranked #1 for memphis lawyer and memphis lawyers and memphis attorney, and highly ranked for memphis divorce (touched 1 at one point), now google's just giving me memphis lawyer and it seems like I'm hard pasted to 1 , but I'm only 4 (and was like 9 a week ago for the plurals.
I also have a site aimed at Memphis realtor which is starting to show a similar issue

This is really starting to concern me since I'm seeing evidence plurals are getting more important . Google instant search is defaulting to plural and yahoo is showing results for the plural when you search for the singular and is acting like you made a typo and offering to redo the search with the singular.

Any tips? How hard is it to get the plural and the singular now. I'm almost tempted to go grab a partner just for an excuse to use the plurals.

      Completely agree, though your site title could be in singular but quality backlinks with plurals give you stability so try it!

    In general when you make a search with singular words the plurals are searched too. But in some instance this may not work. In such cases the best option is to use the synonyms feature which will help.

    The easy solution and what you should do anyways. Is find 5 keywords related to your top traffic keyword and build links to your site with those words in the anchor text. This helps you rank higher and get more long tail search traffic
