There are tons of ways to get backlinks and there is definitely no shortage of backlinks.

However if you want to make your forum more popular you can start by visiting other forums in your niche and have your forum url in your signature. You can have giveaway events or prizes for forum posts too. Use some imagination and creativity and you can make your forum popular pretty fast.

Yep as above.

..and you need users. Lots of them. Making posts and threads with titles all around your subject and these users will have sig links but they'll also link back to you etc. etc.

..and the way to get them users is by doing what Ehsan_am wrote and start visiting and submitting to other forums in your niche.

Check which keywords and questions are popular in your subject. Open some keyword rich threads and do some deeplinking to these threads.

Does your forum have users already as well? Some people may be hesitant to join a forum with very few users, so that's something to think about.

If you're getting plenty of users signing up, then use a variety of techniques, such as forum marketing, blog commenting, article marketing, video marketing and other social networks. Just remain consistent and you'll slowly see results develop over time.

Best way to promote a forum? Set up a few fake accounts on your forum and create multiple threads with the fake accounts commenting to each other's posts. You can even hire people to join and post comments (or find another budding forum owner and offer to post on his forum if he or she posts on yours).

As for backlinks, take your forum's topic, write multiple articles related to the topic, embed links in the article body, and submit them to the various article directories on the web. Also, make sure that all the internal links in your forum are do-follow so that Google and other search engines can index the threads. Then write out site content as threads.

Finally, go to forums that are related to your forum topic and post there. Every so often mention that you are part of another forum that is focused on a similar subject and link back to your forum. Also, include a link back to your forum in your signature as this not only increases your forum visibility amongst readers but, if the forum you're posting on, is regularly indexed by Google you'll keep racking up quality backlinks (provided that the signature links are dofollow).

  1.Make something unique about your site that is so good to attract people.
  2.Find other really popular forums and add your link in your signature when you register.so people will see your link.
  3.Tell everyone you know about this resource you've created at your website.
  4.Include link in videos and in description.it will help to give information about your site to reader.

tell about your forum to your friends, promote it on other forum and blogs, get more backlinks.... use online seo tools to optimize and promote your site....

ping your blog forum everyday and get massive traffic
