Start selling ebooks now with PPC?

I understand that organic SEO is all about providing free content to build a community, and selling to that community. I plan to go that route.

But I need to start making some cash immediately. Is it possible to do decent sales of ebooks with medium and long-tail PPC linking directly to a landing page sales letter?

I have a desperate market.

Of course you can. If you have a great sales letter landing page, desperate customers, and are proficient with PPC... there may never be a reason to go the other route LOL.

My follow up question is, what is a decent clickthru rate for a long-tail ad with good copy and a desperate market?

If you need cash instantly I don't think PPC is going to work the way you think it will. It takes time to optimize. Any info products I sell tend to work better when I collect their email address first. It takes longer to see what your roi is though. But the amount of conversions you can get doing it this way is usually better but you would have to test this to see what works better for your niche.

For your CTR, I don't think anyone can really give you a number and say this is what you should be getting. Each market is going to be different and each keyword is going to be different. Eventually you will also see that "keyword a" may have a 6% CTR but only convert at 1%. "Keyword b" may get a 2% CTR but convert at 8%. This happens quite often so it's not always about what ad can get you the highest CTR.

Each keyword is also going to have a different CPC. This will also determine if a certain keyword will be profitable for you.

This post has gotten long but I hope this information helps you realize that PPC is defiantly not "easy money" in the beginning.
