Up and Down in the serp?

My site currently at 6# in Google, but after i add a backlink it suddenly move up and down. it is normal? Thanks

One of my sites has been flucuating between 3 & 8. Spends more time near 3. The other day I was at 8 and am now back at 5. I wouldn't worry about it.

Well it depends what kind of backlink was added. Is it a relevant, quality backlink?

Yeah, sites tend to jump around, especially if they are fairly new.
