A Little Frustrated with Google & SEO

I am on the verge of giving up on this internet marketing business. For two weeks I have worked hard on a few posts on my site, Ive did everything right. I SEO'd this page to the max, article marketing, backlinking is GREAT and I ranked #1 for the keyword. Traffic and sales was great.

Then Google happened...yep...dropped my page as low as 16th. Traffic dried up, so has my sales. I'm so frustrated because this seems to happen to me ALL the time. I am on the verge of quitting. What else can I do?

Two weeks? Google can take over 3 months before it starts fully trusting a site.

It sounds like the Google Dance to be honest. (This is where your rankings bounce around - or 'dance' - for a bit of time; it especially happens after you build backlinks)

Anywhoo, just give it time. Two weeks is barely anything when it comes to SEO. You're doing the right things so just keep it up and be patient.

You should be looking at all avenues of traffic.

    You are not alone.

If you rely on google, be prepared to take what she offers.

    ...Ive did everything right.
Well, I always say there is more to it than "everything."

What you are experiencing is normal. You need to build more
    authority for staying power.

Well, if you're going to give up, you might as well do it now. This business is full of ups and downs in the beginning and if you get it set in your head that you're going to give up when things go bad, then it's not for you.

If you have however are determined to build a highly successful business, then just keep on chugging.

Quitters never win and winners never quit.

We've all had our bad days/weeks/months with Google. Suck it up and keep on working. If you're going to give up that quick then you obviously don't want it that bad.

@ Jacob Martus.. I understand what you are saying. This isn't something that is new to me. I've been doing this for awhile 3 yrs to be exact, but I really wasn't taking seriously as I am now.

As we we speak, I have another site that has been in "Google dance" for the last 3 mos. One week it will rank #1 for its keyword, the next week it can't be found. Right now, its sitting at #19. UGH!!! Im just frustrated. Thanks for the input tho.

I guess Google will giveth and taketh away!

If you ranked #1 after 2 weeks then I commend you on that. That puts you miles ahead of many that struggle to get there. Just think what it will be like in a year from now when you have added a lot more value and Google has taken you more seriously.

Think long term, think residual. If you had stocks invested and one day they fell would you pull out. Probably not, you hang in there for the rise and shine later.

But if you are doing that well and you want to give it then put your site up for sale. I am sure someone would love to have it.

Patience is essential when it comes to SEO. Sometimes a site diesappeares for months and then comes back without doing anything. Just be sure that you have enough assets and you gonna be successfull.

You can have a lot of freedom with an Online business. For me this was the most important, when I begann. The money followed.

As mentioned above your site just dancing right now. It will probably come back stronger in the rankings once it settles down.

Keep up the back linking as normal and keep pushing forward.

Google takes a long time to move around and get to every site so don't be stressed if it takes a few weeks for them to show any signs of change in your site when your new.

Once your site gains more trust starts moving up in the rankings your site normally reflects changes faster via spidering.

The reason why this market doesn't work for most people is because they give up way before they ever give the process time to take full effect.

I personally stay busy with more than one site so I don't get down when I wake up in the morning only to find my efforts haven't taken hold in Google.

I do a little work on one site then move on to another site and so on.

Sometimes I even forget the work I did on a site days ago because I'm working on new projects or building older projects until I go back to check my numbers at the end of the week.

Stick with it and don't EVER give up. Patience and consistency is the name of the game.

I also agree with all the posters. I urge you not to quit now. Instead of you thinking of quitting, I'll say add more hard work to your IM. You get there sooner.

It happens with SEO, it takes awhile before your Search Engine Rankings stabilizes don't give up.

It happens to my new sites too.

If you are selling something you might want to consider to send some paid traffic while you are building on backlinks to beef up your SEO efforts.

I also agree with some of warriors here that working on a few projects helps; some niches are easy to rank for, having multiple streams of traffic and income won't hurt too.

From what you shared if you keep at it your site is likely to bounce back to page 1 with good rankings. Wishing you the very best!

If you ranked that highly after two weeks, you've had much much more positive results than a vast majority of people just starting out. Consider yourself lucky and just keep on keepin' on.

Like everyone else has said, you should never give up this prematurely. It can be awhile before things start to take shape. Not only that, but relying on SEO alone isn't enough. Do other promotional tactics, such as article marketing, video marketing, social marketing, blog commenting, rss feed submission, web 2.0 marketing, etc. This will bring in traffic AND contribute to your overall SEO for your website.

This same site that you're about to give up on could rake in cash on autopilot down the road. Put in the work now and reap the rewards later. Once you get the initial work in and start ranking in Google, all you need to do is some maintenence work to keep that ranking and a little more work to help move it up even higher. Patience is key to SEO and internet marketing overall.

2 weeks? That's way too early to give up. I've been working on one of my first websites for going on 3 months now and it's still bouncing around like crazy. I've gotten to the point that I've stopped trying to build massive amounts of links and I'm just getting a few here and there. Surprisingly my site lost it's #3 spot last week and hasn't fully recovered yet, but I've made nearly $7 from AdSense in the past week. I know it's not much, but I don't push affiliate products very hard. I more or less just offer information through the sites I work hardest on.

A lot of people create a site, try to promote it, don't get ranked as quickly as they like and give up. The domain doesn't get renewed, and it disappears from SERPs. This is how they filter the constant barrage of new, low quality, low content sites.
