Making Wordpress look like a website

Does anyone have any books, tutorials or suggestions on the fastest way to learn how to make wordpress look like a website?

Nothing fancy, just halfway decent and adding banners and such.

    by look like a website (which it is a website so it kind of already looks like one...) I'm guessing you mean "less like a blog"

    some simple editing of the files can take out things you don't want to appear (use a test installation first) and the theme you choose can have a great affect on whether it appears bloggy.

    One theme that comes to mind is "Constructor" it's been awhile since I've used it but I think that comes with a large amount of customization options.

    With your sidebars you can make sure that no typically blog type widgets appear there and just use text widgets to add your content.

    Go buy Wordpress for dummies by Lisa Sabin-Smith . This book will give you all you need to know and some and is explained in simple layman terms.
    Tells you how to make different templates for individual pages so that they all can look different etc. I think this is what you mean buy a website rather than a blog where each page looks the same generally.

    There are themes that get rid of a lot of the blog type functionality. Using these in concert with some a handful of plugins can give the feeling of a 'website' rather than a 'blog'
