Google Just Deleted Blogger blog for spam but it wasn't?

I had one of my blogger blogs shut down by blogger with the response that it was marked as spam.

It was a X-factor style blog and had about 10 posts on the page.

I had about 100 links to the site generated over the course of 3-4 months as it was on my backburner.

It ranked #2 for it's keyword.

I was promoting Amazon products and I also had an Adsense block up on top of the site.

Got any ideas why it was shut down?

Here's the cache version....keywords lifegear inversion table...if you Google it it's still #2 for it's keywords.

This is exactly why I always host my own blogs. They can delete blogger blogs for any reason and sometimes for no apparent reason.

EXACTLY! Why on earth do people who obviously build sites with the hopes of generating revenue use free web hosts like blogger or wordpress.com. Makes absolutely NO sense to me.

If you can't afford $5-10 per month in hosting to make sure you can do whatever the hell you want with your site in terms of SEO, marketing, etc. then you have no business trying to make money online.

What if the site had been making you $100 or $1000 per day? And THEN blogger shut you down. You'd be screwed.

Get a Godaddy or Hostgator or Bluehost hosting package and call it a day. I think I pay $8-9/month with a dedicated IP. And can host as many domains as I want. Much better solution than free hosting.

Blogger's that way. You never know.

There's a procedure to appeal their verdict. But I don't give you much hope. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Daniel's previous comment is correct. Host your own. Some Blogger features are great. But they can cut you off at the knees anytime they like.

    You answered your own question:
It was a X-factor style blog
    Blogger.com,s guidelines say
Spam: Spam takes several forms in Blogger, all of which can result in deletion of your account or blog. Some examples include creating blogs designed to drive traffic to your site or to move it up in search listings
Your site was clearly designed to drive traffic to amazon without providing any useful content.
Try creating something that actually adds value to the www - put the amazon links into a context.

This is probably the 10th thread I have read in forums about someone's Blogger blog being deleted. You really can't get mad about it since your didn't own it and you know you didn't own it in the first place. This is the risk you run when you make a Blogger blog.

My understanding is that this is becoming a very common occurrence. I think that we are going to see bum marketing methods slowly being wiped out one by one.

I think the most likely cause is you have been reported by a user. Blogger and wordpress have a spam fighting algo which determines if your blog is a spam (satellite site which meant to promote money site). The minute you lunch the site, if its detected by the algorithm, it will get shutdown.

But clearly, you have passed that phase, so the most likely cause is manual review.

Google lets blogger for small purpose only. when your blog becomes popular and gets more traffic, Google starts monitor and blocks whenever he want. I suggest you to start your blog on own domain; dont use free subdomain.

Because you host your own blog, is no reason to think google will not
ban you. They can't shut you down, but do the same things with your
own blog that got your blogger shut, and see what happens.

Blogger for me rocks. I take the power of google and run with it.

If I use a 3rd party free service, I have to take what they give me.

Blogger or not, follow some guidelines. Too many people do x-factor
in such a way that begs the spam label. The tragedy is they blame it
on x-factor style. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The risk is not a blogger blog. It's acting the wrong way.

I agree. It happened to me. In all honesty, google was right (in my case). I built the blogs simply to acquire pagerank and use them for linking value. Google deleted several and I took them all down and began to rebuild. I was "young" and stupid. I used it as a learning experience and scaled back the number of blogs I manage, removed the adsense and have tried to make them "legitimate."

If you hope to make an income with adsense, work hard and play by the rules. In the long run, the money will come. If you "fight" them and develop spammy blogs somewhere else, you'll still risk losing your account.

My blogger blog got taken down for the same reason... although it was up for over a year and was posting you tube videos and not really doing anything out of the ordinary regarding traffic.... in my humble opinion, Google can E.M.A. and i think it's time for a change... I like what Yahoo and Bing are putting together and think that they will be able to give Google a run here in the next year...

I think google just did that.

But - that's not an "xfactor" site. John clearly tells people to start with several pages of decent content - not just an image and some ads.

They got me once too. I had a blogger blog that was taken out b/c they said it was a spam blog. I didn't do anything different in it than any other blog. I use original content most of the time or reprint articles. Nothing spammy or indecent...family friendly stuff. I think sometimes they get banned because someone turns it in that way. I tried their procedure for getting it back, but it never worked.

Not long afterward I bought the domain and built a WP blog with the same content. I make money with Adsense via Blogger, but there's no guarantee that it will stay. Oh well, that's the chance you take.
