Local Search Marketing is being branded by Google as local search or local places or whatever, so with the mainstream business owner, when you tell them, "I do local search marketing" google comes to mind and they say, that's great and what can you offer me.

If you think SEO should be first, who are your targeting, there are internet companies all over the world who know what SEO is and there are none, but if you were to focus on local seo, then I would suggest, local search marketing for the sake of not overwhelming and over educating the business owner, with all the stuff about what seo is, like title tags. I did this with a local business owner and he looked at me like I was some internet marketing wizard and wanted to hire me if I would accept 10 dollars an hour. I told one of my seo buddies and he said or should I say, he laughed and told me, don't do it man. you know that seo or sem or local search is not a regular job,,it is a profession like a lawyer or something.

but yeah, if you just say local search marketing direct at local businesses
for internet comapnies, say seo for newbie sites with no page rank
for internet companies who know and understand say, search engine marketing

I have internet seo firms call me all the time about seo services and how they can do it for me, well after about 9 months of doing it myself, I would rather out source or hire a college kid who likes internet marketing for me and can do it. But hire an seo firm that has some good networks...mm...probably not...I would only go with them if they have paid advertising with reviews that backs up their claimed ROI.

SEo and local seo got some difference as it consist of zip codes maps Ip based marketing and alot more .

You can add localisation metatags that define the
area where the local business is based, and coupled
with keyword rich content, you can nail down LSM
easily.

SEO should take main concern as it is the first step in optimising a site. Anyone not carrying out SEO when surroundings up a site is missing the whole point of have a website.
