My First Legit .EDU Backlink

Today, I got an email from a student of a well known American university who is writing a research paper and has used my website as one of his sources.

He will be publishing the paper on a section of the universities website with a link to my site included in the sources.

I'm not sure how powerful this link will be, but it's got to be somewhat legit. Coming from an exclusive University page about my niche.

Just thought I'd make this post to demonstrate that if you make your website high quality and useful to your visitors, you can attract natural links.

Disclaimer: Never rely entirely on natural links. They don't happen enough or in enough quantity to let your business rely on. However, with some low quality links, I was able to get the search engine ranking that got my website the exposure to get this powerful natural backlink.

Anyway, that's kind of against the point of the thread. Just offering encouragement and kind of bragging I guess? Natural backlinks make me happy!

    great job. natural backlinks are the best because they are "natural" to google. And this is what we all want. But as you already said they are rare and you can't rank only with natural backlinks.

    But I think this is another example that quality content is really great.

    Its very good and if the website himself linked to your website its very nice and its a totally natural backlink. But i myself think .edu domains are not as much as important as some webmasters think. Its clear that they worth more than .com .net or other extensions but they value a bit more. Its my idea.
