Hi Warriors,

When you put ads from adsense onto your blog, so the ads target the content it finds on the blog, is it ok to have links to sites that are nothing to do with my targeted blog ? ie sites to my other sites, that are on different subjects ?

Thanks

Tum

Sure, you can. But I guess the question is why?

Don't go linking all of your websites together, especially if they're hosted from the same IP (Google doesn't like that). As far as Adsense and links go, you can link to whatever you want. The Adsense bot (Mediapartners-Google I think is what it's called) is looking at your text and picking out keywords, it's not finding you links and following the links to decide what content it should be showing on your website.

      Thanks for your replys.

I think i read somewhere that you can still link to your own sites, for backlinks.

Guess its not such a good plan afterall.

      Thanks

It only makes sense to do that if the links are to sites that have a broad interest.

We handle PPC advertising for companies and use site-targeting to exactly that.

What we do is advertise banner ads:
    1) On specific sites that have themes around what the client sells
    2) On other sites that have nothing to do with that them...BUT are likely to have users who may be interested in the product.

    Example:
    Customer sells hemorrhoid treatment capsules.
    1) Advertise via banner ads on sites about hemorrhoids, constipation, etc.
    2) Advertise on site about the joys of being a grandmother. NO - the grandmother site is not about hemorrhoids, BUT the audience are more likely to have hemorrhoids than say the audience of a gothic tattoo site.

So...for your blog....have the links...but use links to products that could be used by the typical visitor to your niche site.

    Hope that helps.

      Yes thanks that helps.

I was thinking of linking niche sites that have nothing to do with each other. Am guessing now from reading the posts here thats a bad idea.

      Thanks

You can do it, but you have to do it very sensibly. Putting links all of your sites on every page or even putting all of your links on a single page is just a bad idea. It's best to work your links into your content which is why it helps to have the sites be related. You want Google to think you're linking people to another one of your sites for additional information or something to that effect. Google doesn't take kindly to you using your own sites just to build links to your other sites.
