One of my articles is ranking on the 2nd page for a fairly competitive keyword. Ive just noticed that I dont have the full keyword which im trying rank for in the first sentence.

Will having your keyword in the first sentence improve your SE Rank?

Perhaps... Although as it stands I'm sure a few backlinks would have the same effect.

i believe it will. the google bot is programed to check for keywords from your title and the first sentence in your article. but dont spam your article with keywords all in the name of having a good PR

I find that the keyword in the title, first paragraph, andonce again at the end works pretty well for eZineArticles.

Also, try and use it in an anchor text link in your resource box.
