      Hello, traffictipsnow ...

It's my understanding that social bookmarking is about
voting for other people's pages, not your own ...

Also, it's my understanding that search engines
      know the difference ...

Don't you think it might be better to join one of the new
"co-op" type services that are springing up, where you
earn "credits" by bookmarking other people's pages, and
they earn credits by bookmarking yours?

That way, you can actually build a variety of links in your
bookmarking account that are more likely to be of more interest
to your followers than just a pile of your own pages.

And isn't having a lot of followers where it's really at?

Especially if they have a lot of followers themselves?

      Just my 2¢ ...

      Regards, Elizabeth ...

    Head over to onlywire.com and give it a try; yeah; it helps out a bit; but social bookmarking is just a quick way to get a couple backlinks; I use good seo services to get the real link juice;

This is just a quick free way of getting some links. Especially for a blog post

social bookmarking takes time to get the minimal backlinks but if you use proven and good SEO techniques it will give you quality backlinks through your good quality content.

      Hello, jhonsean ...

... through your good quality content.
Yes, I think that's right ... through the kind of content
that makes one want to say, "Hey, Susie, get a loada this!"

So Susie does ... and Susie thinks it's way cool ... so Susie
tells all her followers about it ... all 762 of them ...
154 of which hustle on over to your site to see what she's on about ...

and when they get there, what do they find?

do they see what Susie saw?

do they think it's cool, too?

do they tell all *their* followers about it?

do they leave a comment about it?

do you respond to that comment?

do you begin a relationship with them right there on *your* site?

inspire them to want to sign up for *your* newsletter?

or enter *your* sales funnel in some other way?

is *your* site a central hub where friends of friends of friends
can all come and be entertained or educated or enlightened?

not the social site, but *your* site?

and if it isn't, then what good would SocialMarker do?

      Just asking ...

      Elizabeth

So what is to say someone (or many) that finds your site through Social Bookmarking won't do exactly what you are saying above with thier own group of friends?

I don't think the intent of the post was implying to only use social bookmarks, but the additional links can help your site rank, and they are easy to do.

In fact, if you have quality content, you SHOULD do social bookmarking. How would your traffic look if 20 people saw your site and did exactly what you mention above?

That would be 20x traffic you missed out on because you were afraid to pat yourself on the back and advertise a bit.

Onlywire is definitely a quick and useful tool. Remember, you don't HAVE to use it just for your own posts. If you use it routinely to share great content you read as you are surfing online, you will start to build a readership of followers on the various bookmarking sites you post to through onlywire.

THEN, when you post your own stuff, you are likely to not only get backlinks, but some actual traffic from actual people who have enjoyed the stuff you shared.
