Hi all,

Some of you may have read my other thread but this is a separate question I believe.

I've just registered a new domain name and put up some content (keyword rich placeholder junk for the time being). Do I need to wait until I have a PR of 0 before link building or is it ok to start while it still shows as '?' for the PR?

Thanks!!

You can start building on it right away. Google will notice your site sooner or later. Then that is when you see your site rising up the SERP.

Start building right away. When you have a lot of backlinks and when google spiders crawl through your website, they will recognize you and most probably update your PR

Must agree. Get started now - the results will come either way, so best to get a head start on the process. Good luck

Are you in one of the same niches as me? If so, I recommend waiting at least a year before doing any backlinking.

      That is good, really good

There's never any negative effect when you are adding quality items to you site whether they are content or links just make sure it adds quality value and nothing else.

Theirs no such thing as a "sandbox", so stop being "lazy" and get working.

I registered a domain other week, registered it, within a few hours it was indexed on google within a week doing well on search terms.

Just dont build backlinks too fast, unless you can keep it constant. Start off slow and gradually build up the amount you build each day.

I have to say i'm quite confused by the title of your thread. You have a new site, that is all. New site does not equal sandbox.

In any event, yes, start link building.

Perhaps I'm misusing the term in that case. I thought all new domains went through a period whereby there aren't indexed by Google. Sounds like it's called something else!

I dont really get it though, I put up a new site and was doing well within weeks. Later on I put up a new site, totally different keywords, much smaller niche...and have yet to rank for them!

I'm just curious, what are you using to check your PR? I use SeoQuake to check on my PR and such, and everything on my toolbar shows up as "?" until I click on it. Since the site is new, it should show PR n/a.

You can't monitor your site ranking in SERP until you start quality link building google will notice it and update your page.

I too was confused about your title. If you were in the sandbox, I would wait since you don't know if when / you are getting out. But since it is a new site, build away.
