How much follow up maintenance is needed in SEO ?

After my site has been optimized and the key words have been defined does it require constant weekly or monthly updating , or only a few minor adjustments for a few months to increase ranking ?

    Hi,

    I would say that once you have your site optimized you need to build good quality backlinks on a regular basis.

    How often you need to do this depends on how competitive your keywords are. I have a site in the home business market that is on page one of Google for a lot of competitive phrases and I find that I need to regularly submit articles and build backlinks to keep my site ranked well. I also add content on a weekly basis.

    On the other hand I have a site in a much less competitive niche and I have barely done any work on it in the last six months (submitted one article and added a few new pages) and it is still ranked well.

    So in summary, I think it is all dependent on your competition.
