help on Unknown type of backlink.

hi fellow warriors,
I was checking the backlink of a website of my interest using yahoo site explorer. (not able to post link yet, search on yahoo site explorer: androidandme.com, all links except current domain ).
I am confused by the majority of the backlinks follow the same pattern:
unrelated-website.com/?xxx=keyword1+keyword2
This is not the only website I found with this type of (large-amount) links.
What are these backlinks, are they sort of syndication? If so, they should
have really low impact on SERP, right?
