Duplicate content

There have been so many times that seen a website that has duplicate content and the site is ranking higher than my site. Can someone please tell me why google decided to rank it high?

    • Chances are you don't know what "duplicate content" means. It has nothing to do with articles that are posted on multiple sites. If you are seeing one article on several sites - that's called syndication and good if you are the author of the article.

      If one site has content that is repeated on multiple pages - that is duplicate content.

      If you want to know more about it - use the search function on this forum - there's about a million sabout it (well, maybe not quite that many).

  • It might be other reasons that you probably ignored. Your backlinks might be less than that website!
  • I think duplicate content has it, since they have to update their own blog as an example they've only modify it and rephrase the corresponding statement.
