Established Blog - Fast Traffic Growth - But Still PR = 0

I joined this forum out of desperation. I've been working hard on my blog since March, and have driven the traffic from nothing to over 4,000 unique visitors a month.

I write all my articles and don't do anything "against the rules" but my PR will not budge off zero. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm about ready to pay to have the PR raised does anyone offer service to guarantee me a PR2 or something specific.

I can't post my site because it is my first post

I make less than a dollar a day even with that many visitors... sucks.

Any guidance greatly appreciated.

Sincerely
DisplacedGuy (com)

Thats kinda weird man... i see you have a fair amount of links and you have 110 pages indexed...(if you site is displacedguyDOTcom)..

I would think the only real thing that stands between you and an increase in PR is time. Their might not have been a pr update recently. The only other thing i could suggest is look at getting some high PR backlinks...and also check to ensure that the host you are hosting with does not have a blacklisted ip..

      .

Yes it is thank you very much for the reply. I am baffled I work my balls off making articles and links and have been under 100K US several times on Alexa, and lately averaging 200-400 unique visitors a day with lots of search engine traffic.

Can anyone recommend the quickest way to get a PR rating on my site? Or see problems with my site. I am interested in WSO's too, new here so will be cautious but hope this will be a mutually beneficial situation.

      Regards,

If you pay for a PR7 backlink then when there is an update it should definitely go io.

    Hi Rich,
    My 2 cents:
    • Forget about PR for now.
    • Keep building backlinks naturally to your site.
    • Keep adding quality content to your site regularly.

    About your site
    • It is too busy (cluttered).
    • No clear theme ( I have 7 seconds to look at it, nothing shouts out at me, to tell me what the site is about, or what is in it for me - wiifm).
    • No calls to action, on each page post (what do you want the visitor to do?). At the moment it is not very clear.
    • Focus on optimizing your site for conversions.

Thanks a million for the great answer peekay, if I knew how to thank you formally on a post I would. So thank you!

I am really new at this stuff, and lost my job so HAVE to generate some income before we lose the house. My blog has a very bad CTR, I often get over 1000 page impressions (ads) in 7 days but rarely average more than a dollar a day in revenue.

I will focus on the ideas you mentioned thank you for the constructive feedback.

Toolbar PR (which isn't your current PR) hasn't be updated by Google for most of the year. This is really only a concern for selling links or selling the site so forget about it. If you have some decent links then I doubt your PR is still 0 'in Google's eyes'.

Sales is the number you have to worry about. Try and find out why the traffic isn't converting. You are getting good traffic so you are on the right track.

The main concern should be about why am I making less then $30 with 4,000+ visitors. Prodominately a tech blog with a spin on how to make cash online, should be looking to promote products within that niche and replace programs that are not doing it.

I agree, forget about PR. Toolbar PR means dick diddly all anyway, it is about as accurate as asking the weird guy down the street that smells like wine.

Pagerank, actual pagerank I mean, is constantly calculated and recalculated...they just dont feel any need or desire to tell you what it is, and they have no obligation to do so, it is an internal calculation after all.

Secondly, as other people have mentioned, you have your hands full with more important things than PR to worry about. If you aren't making any money, that is the one and only metric you need to be worried about right now.

If it were me, which it is not, and you do in fact have the type of traffic you say, and I had to make some cash...I would segment what keywords are bringing the majority of your traffic, only write content and build links for those keywords for a while, and aggressively slam matched CPA offers at all of your visitors.

    Just my .02

Worry about the money, forget PR. Some of the PR tools are not accurate. I've seen different PRs for the same page, depending on which tool I use. Traffic and money are the important issues. If you are getting decent traffic, keep doing what is working and start worrying about how to best use each page to make money. Good luck.

Not a good idea. You join, read the forum, take advice from friend
or foe alike, practice it, and be patient.

Once again, someone who is in a fantasy world about great their website is,
and just know it deserves PR.

      Excuse the harshness, nothing personal.

There are no guarantees, which is my pet peeve here at the WF. Why do
you think your site deserves PR? Because in your mind you have done every
thing right, and know google must LOVE your site.

Nobody can ever guarantee you PR, unless you buy a site with PR already.

Is your PR 0 or n/a? There is a huge difference. PR0 means you have some
PR. A whole lot better than PR n/a.

And did you check all of your pages? Maybe some have PR.

Getting traffic has nothing to do with PR. Getting traffic has nothing to
do with making money. It's a combination of a whole host of things.

As a lot of people have said, stop worrying about PR and start worrying
about money. That's the goal, right?

Do good things, PR will come. But if it doesn't, sometimes there's nothing
you can do in regards to the big bad google.

        Hi Paul,

Your points are taken and no hard feelings, I came here for help and everyone offered it including yourself in a constructive way.

You asked why I thought I deserved a PR above zero, I've had explosive traffic growth (about 50% increase monthly for a while) and just assumed with that traffic and back-links that I wouldn't be a zero. I feel my content is average quality at best I am not a writer but rather a computer programmer, but I'm learning fast. I feel completely lost in the forums here it is scary to see the WSO's and pay for something sight unseen but I'll take my time.

The learning to make money part is something I am very green on and will try to learn as much as possible here, I thought that maybe the reason I wasn't making much money was because my PR was zero but sounds like that isn't the case.

I hope that I didn't come across the wrong way with my statement of joining out of desperation, I've been lurking here a while (weeks) and would love to be more involved but I'm quite broke having been unemployed for several months so I'm afraid to risk what little I have on a WSO for now. I like what I see here and considering I came here asking questions on the very first post I felt that everyone was very helpful, more than I expected (because of being a noob), so thank you very much to everyone.

I hope that someday I can contribute and help others here. I will remember those that helped me.

BobJutsu mentioned breaking the blog into separate parts and work the performing keywords separately (thanks), I had been thinking of doing that some day... I just bought a book two days ago called "Problogger - Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income" by Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett and they mentioned having a first blog with multi-categories and eventually splitting the living room blog like you described.

I am surprised that my CTR is so low though my ads are targeted to content and I think they blend in fairly nicely, I am not overly proud of my blog like you suspected, I think it is average at best, but on the other hand I am somewhat proud of the amount of traffic I've gained in few months about it. My CTR is a pure embarrassment running between .75 and .95. I just (few days ago) added the subscription plug-in to try gathering subscribers but only have two subscribers to the double-opt-in so far and no clear objective of what to offer to make people want to subscribe.

So basically I suck, but I'm usually independent but I am really in a bad spot financially and felt that I needed to ask for help and am so thankful for everyone that did. I won't forget any of you.

        Regards,
        Rich

If you somehow managed to get a PR5 tomorrow is it going to make a difference to your site, in my opinion, No.

It's beyond me why so many people are so concerned about PR, I personally couldn't care less, all I worry about it CTR and serps. Out of all my sites I doubt that I have anything above a PR2 and I'm just guessing because I don't check so I really don't know.

Don't worry about the PR and find out why you are getting such a bad CTR, improve that and you can make extra money overnight!!

Forget about pr and add an adsense 336x280 large rectangle box underneath your blog post title's to get your adsense income up. That's all for now...
