Same subjects, different languages

Ok, let´s suppose i have a site about cars in french, and then i get a backlink in a site about cars, but in english. Will google consider this unrelated topics and take away the value of the backlink?

I don't see any reason why the backlink wouldn't be valued in your situation.

So, the fact that it is in a different language doesn´t affect the backlink?

This is still related to the relevancy subject. You can have a look at Terry Kyle's experiment on the subject. Link relevancy is not really important.

As far as you have the right anchor text you'll be fine.
