I am planning to build an xfactor type website.. with following details..

keyword: two words, 10 alphabets
competition in google: 1 million pages
Websites on first page: mostly article directory sites and yahoo answer (i think i can rank better for this one!, as i feel it is low competition)

.org/com/net are already registered but they have no content in them.

Would you suggest me to go for .info and build a site? Or i should use a blogspot?

please share any experience with .info's if you have built an info site similar to the above said competition

I know of many .info domains that ranked on top of Google for very competitive search terms... The bottom line is that it is all about the number and quality of links you will build for your site.

I would personally go for a hyphenated domain over a .info -- I know many people say google does not care about the tld of the domain. From my own personal experiences, I have just always had faster success with a .com or .org, so I opt for those first.

I have .info domains that rank very high (top 3) for their main keyword, it just seemed to take longer than it should have, like google was making me "prove myself" before rewarding me.

Whether or not that was the case, who knows. I just know what works for me, and I like hyphenated domain over .info.

        Cheers,

        Joe

It's up to you. It all depends on the number of monnthly searches as to whether it is worth it or not. I can definitely say experientally that .info's are a bit more difficult to move up in the rankings, but not impossible.

It doesn't really matter. What matters is how your SEO thing works out. Any extensions can rise among others if partnered with relevant links.

In my experience it takes more time to rank info domains, but it is not impossible.

Only Quality Contents, Good keywords and maximum backlinks matters. Make sure you have all these three factors and you will succeed.

.info costs you hardly $1, so go for your xfactor type website
    BEST of luck
