Page Rank Update!

Yeah I know you ran in thinking I was going to say "it's happened".

Well it hasn't.

And if it never happened again, what effect would it have on your business and income?

And if toolbar PR disappeared forever, what effect would it have on your business and income?

The answer is of course, unless you sell links, absolutely no effect at all.

So why do so many people get utterly obsessed with it?

  • Well, Its the most stupid thing People worry about.. PR means nothing as I have 4 sites which got PR2 in around three months and They earned latterly Nothing for me! In the end I did not even renew the domains... Only thing matters is site making money then all is Good...
  • ...or if you sell/flip sites. Of course, I sell links, so i'm in the small segment that it does matter.

  • There must be a heck of a lot of site / link sellers out there then for all this fuss. I guess that is why so many people are anxiously awaiting this. PR is is like real estate, it can go up, and it can go down. It has nothing to do with how long a site has been up, and I think most people expect a PR udate will increase their PR. Some wll be disappointed.

    • I think I've made more selling links this year than any other revenue source.
Pr is important to me, as many index pages are taken by solo sponsors. It's
good that PR flows to subpages, as there are tons who want a slice of the
      PR pie...

We need to start a whole piece of this forum just on PR.

  • I used to think that PR didn't matter but as you start to compete in tougher niches, I believe it DOES matter! As an example, if you have a PR4 site with some PR on inner-pages and want to rank new pages, then potentially you can pass on some of that juice onto your new pages. It may or may not make a huge difference but at least you have an added advantage over a newer site with no or little PR.

    Just my 50 pence!

    • ..but, it isn't the PR of the domain that matters, it is the incoming backlinks to the domain as a whole that matters. The juice that gets passed on to new inner pages isn't PR, but the link juice from the backlinks to the domain.

  • Pr matters to me because it gives me a measure of the strength of my own backlinks. For example a lot of my articles on ezine got PR2-4. I was really impressed that they got such high PR despite me not even building backlinks to these. I would love to get a PR update so I can see what other article directories give me...

I can see why you don't care about PR but I like to test and experiment things, PR matters to me.
