Indexing Profile URLs

I'm trying to get backlinks from forum profile urls (since it has my website url). But sometimes it's hard to find out what is the right url to use so I can get my profile that has my website listed.

Is there a guide out there that can explain how to find it?

Or, should I be indexing the actual forum post that has my signature?

    You should be doing both.

There is a tool out there called indexing tool that might help you. Put this on a different website than your main website. It works by creating a backlink to the profile and then notifies Google that you have updated the website. Googlebot then crawls your website and discovers the link. Once the profile link is indexed, the tool removes it from the website and adds the next not-indexed profile. You don't want to run this tool on your main site because it will create 2 way links temporarily.
