What are your thoughts on .ca domains?

I've found some great keywords but I want exact match domains. I see some that have the .ca available and I'm wondering if anyone has any opinions about how well they work... or don't work.

Seems to me a .ca would be better than a .com with "the" or "site" added.

for example which do you like more:
1) happycamper(dot)ca
2) happycampersite(dot)com

Thanks

technically dot com's are more valuable should you ever want to sell your vitual real estate, but if your target market is Canadian I would go with happycamper(dot)ca

Well, I'm not planning to sell it and my target market isn't Canadian.
I'm really just wanting organic traffic from Google.
So maybe adding in an extra word and having a .com is better?

I think you would lose out on traffic with a .ca domain. It would probably rank high on Canadian Google but not so well in other countries.

Also, people from outside Canada might see the domain and think it's not relevant to them.

Better go for a (dot)com since it can target any audience worldwide. The (dota)ca and other domains belonging to this type are mainly catered for local-level or country-level audiences. You can top Google Canada but it will be hard for you to topple down Google International competitors.

Go with the dot com for seo purposes.

.coms are more valuable and easy to remember. If a previous visitor of your site wanted to find your site again and could only remember the keyword, I don't think they would remember to put the .ca at the end. I would think most people would habitually put .com.
