Quick question about Backlinks

When checking backlinks on a competitors site do you filter out links from within the same site or do you include them?

  • Well you have on page SEO structure (internal links) and then you also have offpage backlinks. I generally look at off page more than onpage links.

    If you are talking about more than one link from the same domain, still give those links credit.
  • I filter out the links from the same site because Google counts backlinks based on IP.

      Also, I would double check the Google link results with something like Majestic SEO or the SEO Moz tools to get a second opinion so to speak.

      Otherwise you might miss out on some links.
  • I think we should filter outbound links while checking competitors backlinks.
